Ingredients
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup packed brown sugar
1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons cornstarch
½ cup heavy cream
seasonal fruits
Directions
1. Combine sugars in a large skillet. Heat gently over
a low heat until sugars dissolve. Remove from heat.
Combine a small amount of the condensed milk with the
cornstarch, mixing until smooth.
2. Add the cornstarch mixture and cream to the dissolved
sugars.
3. Pour in remaining condensed milk; return pan to the
heat. A toffee lump should form.
4. Continue stirring over low heat until the lump dissolves.
The fondue should be a dark, rich caramel color. Transfer
mixture to fondue pot. Stir often to prevent burning.
5. Serve immediately with a selection of skewered fresh
fruit. Fondue may also be served in a bowl and passed
around on a platter with skewered fruit for guests to
serve themselves. |
